echoing the language of making,
of silent construction,
of threads passing through fingers.

Description

Minotaure in Bayeux – Artistic Silk Scarf 90×90 cm

by Stella Polare Artiste, Paris

You see a scarf. I create a thread.

The silk scarf “Minotaure in Bayeux” is part of the Minotaures universe and Minotaure scarf series by Stella Polare Artiste, created in Paris.

This design is inspired by the city of Bayeux, known for its legendary tapestry, but also for its tradition of handmade lace (dentelle) — a practice where thread becomes structure, and emptiness becomes form.

Here, the image behaves like textile.

The composition unfolds through fragments: constellations, floating objects, architectural traces, and hybrid figures suspended between sky and sea.
At its center, a luminous seahorse emerges, surrounded by a field of stars — as if the narrative itself had dissolved into atmosphere.

Concept

The Minotaur was imagined during the lockdown, as a figure moving through different spaces and states of being.

In Bayeux, it no longer walks through a labyrinth.
It moves through a narrative.

The work echoes the logic of the Bayeux tapestry:

  • a story without a single focal point
  • a reading that unfolds over time
  • an image that must be followed rather than consumed

This approach resonates with the artist’s reflection on the French letter “H” — silent, yet structuring.

Like the letter H:

  • the Minotaur is not always visible
  • yet it organizes the composition
  • it connects fragments without announcing itself

It becomes:

  • a hidden axis
  • a narrative force
  • a presence that exists through relation rather than form

Artistic Vision

Stella Polare or Khulkar Yunusova is a French-Uzbek contemporary artist based in Paris.
Her work develops around a central concept: “vitaculture” — the urgency of joy as a conscious, aesthetic, and existential act.

Her artistic practice bridges:

  • language and image
  • East and West
  • personal history and collective memory

Her work has been presented at UNESCO, the Louvre, and Palais Jacques Cœur (carte blanche, 2021), among others. The same year 2021 she was invited to the Parole des Femmes, public talk at the House of the Great French writer, Maison de George Sand

Why a scarf

For Stella Polare, the scarf is not a simple accessory.
Like the Bayeux tapestry, it carries:

  • stories
  • symbols
  • invisible structures

It moves with the body, transforming narrative into gesture.

It also reflects on:

  • textile as historical medium
  • the role of women in transmission and invisible labor (It is a symbol of emancipation and transformation (from Tamara Khanum to Nurkhon Yuldasheva )
  • the object as both intimate and politica
